Phoenix Bass Boats – Factory Tour

Phoenix Bass Boats

My dad and I went to the Phoenix Bass Boats factory in Winchester, TN last year and took a tour of the manufacturing facility.  First of all, these guys build awesome boats and I can’t wait to own one.  We were toured by Jeff Hartung, their marketing director.  Jeff began the tour at the beginning of the build process.  Here we saw the molds being waxed and prepped for the application of the gel coat resin and the color application for the hull striping.  Phoenix has “wings” on the bottom of the hull near the bow (once you see a Phoenix on plane you can spot one a mile away).  We followed the process through the fiberglass application and stringer and transom installation (they use special materials to make the transom – we can’t mention it here).  This was following by a curing period and then the hull and cap are pulled from their molds (see the video).  The hulls are then moved to another part of the factory to be rigged and mated to the hull cap.  After this the boat looks more like a finished product.  Finally the motor, carpet, seats, electronics, trolling motor are added at finally assembly.  The finished boat is placed on a trailer and shipped to the dealer for delivery to the customer.  Visit www.phoenixbassboats.com to schedule your tour.
